Roger Federer has announced his retirement from his tennis career, and he will play the final match of his spectacular career in doubles alongside Rafael Nadal.
Robert hopes to bow out of tennis after spending so many of his best years battling on the biggest stages of tennis as they took their sport to unforeseen levels.
Federer will play his career’s last match in doubles with his old rival Rafael Nadal. Federer said for us to go through a tennis career that we both have had and to come out on the other side and be able to have a good relationship is maybe a great message to not only tennis but sports and maybe even beyond.
Federer announced his retirement at the Laver Cup in London last week, and he said he will be able to compete only in doubles because of the limitations of his surgically repaired knee.
After playing one match on Friday, the opening day of the competition, he will complete more than 1,500 matches and 20 grand slam titles since his debut in 1998.
Federer said I was in a very worried, scared place to face the media, fans, music, and everything. Moreover, he said, Being able to talk about it in a normal fashion without getting emotional, just because I know how much it means to me.
For so long, Federer was known and admired for how he had managed to avoid major injuries, and he always said that he will end his career without undergoing surgery. He has had to come through three knee surgeries since 2020.
Federer said, The more you’ve been hurt, the more surgeries you’ve had, the more scared you get with everything, and that’s hard at one point to get it out of your head as a player.
After retirement, Federer will spend the holidays with his wife and children, but he is less sure about what comes next, maybe it could be commentary at Wimbledon.
